New York mosquitoes carry West Nile virus

In New York, the mosquito season began, and insects are in full swing with their victims. 
What is fraught with their bites, except for itching and unattractive pink spots? Especially this issue is relevant this year, after the world shook the news of the outbreak of Zik's Fever. 





 Doctors have two news for the inhabitants of the Big Apple: good and bad. Fortunately, the virus of Zik in urban insects is not found. However, they carry another danger - on Monday in the Ministry of Health they reported that among the New York bloodsuckers there are vectors of the West Nile virus. True, no cases of human infection have been recorded.

On June 12, infected insects were found in the Princes Bay on Staten Island. Representatives of the health authorities said that they had taken all possible measures to curb the growth of the mosquito population. They advised the population to use repellents, and wear clothes covering the arms and legs in the dark. What is the virus of the Western Nile and what is it dangerous for man? The causative agent does not entail such serious consequences as infection with the virus Zika. However, it causes fever, inflammation of the serous membranes (sometimes encephalitis), inflammation of the lymph nodes and less often a rash.
