In Los Angeles there is an invasion of insects

Rainy and warm winter helped to solve the problems of drought in Southern California, but brought new trouble - insects literally overcame the state.

Every day, the Los Angeles County Anti-Infection Service fixes up to 80 calls from agitated residents of the region who are not used to seeing around such a number of beetles and mosquitoes. The representative of the agency Levi San, who is responsible for public relations, says that usually his office receives no more than 25 calls, but now the phone does not stop for days on end.

Most residents of Los Angeles are annoyed by two types of insects: mushroom mosquitoes and long-legged legs.

Invasion of insects has nothing to do with unsanitary conditions - favorable conditions for their reproduction are created by high humidity.

Sun assures that there is no reason for panic - neither do not bite or spread infection. According to the expert, they belong to seasonal pests, so closer to summer their number should decrease. However, San reminded that in the warmer months there will be a more serious threat - mosquitoes, which are potential carriers of the virus Zeka.

Note that some regions of Orange County have faced the problem of mosquitoes right now. According to Mary-Joy Coburn from the local vector-control service, since March 2017, their number is twice the norm. These indicators caused concern among the representatives of the department, as among the insects there is a dangerous variety of Culex tarsalis .

This species often carries the West Nile fever virus and Saint Louis encephalitis. Its representatives differ from their relatives in a striped body and shaggy mustache.
